Project SLAM, SNCO Mess and Accommodation, Gaza Barracks, Catterick
New focal point within the heart of Gaza Barracks is handed over to the sound of a fanfare.
In the heart of Gaza Barracks a new SNCO Mess and single living accommodation has been completed, works commenced in September 2008 and the building was handover to the base in mid March 2010 at an approximate cost of £12 million.
The new building will not only serve as a Mess for the 4th Mechanized Brigade but also as the Catterick Garrison Warrant Officers and Sergeants Mess. The need for flexible internal spaces and direct links to the accommodation added to the complexity of the internal layout, to accommodate the numerous functions that will be held.
The new building will replace the existing Mess within the Barracks and will also house 80nr SNCO's within en-suite bed sits.
This project is part of the ongoing works at Gaza Barracks being under taken by Project SLAM, which also includes the new accommodation block for 60 Officers and 6 Senior Officers.
