Challenge for Charity
25 August 2005
Well done to the two teams from CRGP who displayed great spirit last month when they took part in the Speyside Challenge to raise money for the Prince and Princess of Wales Hospice in Glasgow. This entailed walking 50 miles in 24 hours, a fairly demanding assignment, but at least the architects, building surveyors and quantity surveyors of the company had plenty of common interests to discuss as they passed through some of Scotland's finest scenery.
They all started from Boat of Garten at 8.30am and their goal was to reach Spey Bay, near Buckie by 8.30am the following morning. The first team made it with an hour to spare, however, the second team comprising architects cut it fine but still managed their mission in 23 hours 58 minutes.
Apart from achieving their goal, the group of nine raised over £2000 for the hospice, which provides specialist care for people with life-limiting illnesses and support for their families. Every year it has to find £3m in order to maintain its current level of service.
